Harrisburg, Pa. — August 21, 2007 -Experiencing a flood of activity in its Consulting Division, eCU Technologies, an automated financial service technology provider for credit unions, has signed 14 credit unions, enabling them to leverage the technology CUSO’s programming and RepGen (Report Generator) services. As a result, these credit unions have gained extended knowledge of the Symitar Episys™ system and will be able to maximize the full potential of the industry’s top data processing system.

Down to one programmer and still recovering from Hurricane Katrina, Keesler Federal Credit Union employed the tech services of eCU Technologies’ Episys expertise to help with SymForm programming within its Home Equity product and Title and Loan Record Departments.
“We appreciate the expertise eCU provides us,” says Michelle Rimes, Programmer Analyst at Keesler. “Credit unions are historically about sharing knowledge. eCU is helping us grow in our knowledge of the capabilities of Symitar. When we place our work orders we sometimes feel like we are asking for the ‘moon’ as we are not quite sure how it can be programmed but we put in our request and the ‘moon’ is produced. So our knowledge of what is possible in Symitar has been broadened.”
According to First Entertainment’s Director of Information Services, Dan Kinne, it’s all a matter of supply and demand. “We had more projects and system tweaks than we could handle in-house,” Kinne says. “eCU’s programming capabilities are the perfect alternative to help that bottleneck.”
eCU Technologies is helping First Entertainment with two projects. The first project is automating the process of incoming wire transfers for members. Kinne says that the credit union used to perform this task manually, which would take a dedicated employee all day to process the transfers. With the new program installed, the process has been automated so it now takes mere minutes to complete.
The second project deals with First Entertainment’s StretchPay product, which is essentially a payday look-alike. This loan process has been automated as well, completing the process for the member in just seconds from validation to funding. Members can also choose the form of payment – with a check or auto transfer from another account.
“This service from eCU is of great benefit to us and our members because it has created new efficiencies we didn’t have before that promotes better, faster member service and saves us money,” Kinne explains. “In addition, it’s very convenient to work with the programmers at eCU directly. It’s a very hands-on type of service that allows us to complete our projects much faster. It’s so efficient, I can oversee three or four projects at once.”
According to Community First Credit Union of Florida’s Vice President of Information Technology, Tim Simpson, his credit union’s small IT staff consistently dealt with a high volume amount of work on tight deadlines. As a result, Community First employed eCU Technologies’ team of programmers to create its MasterCard/VISA file exemption acceptance list.
Using eCU Technologies’ programming services gives the credit union more flexibility with projects and a faster implementation time – all at a reduced cost rather than hiring more staff. In addition, eCU Technologies’ programmers provide the credit union’s staff with a better understanding of the technology project on which they’re working so they are empowered to make any modifications to the file at their convenience.
“Ultimately, we really like the fact that eCU Technologies is a CUSO of a large credit union,” Simpson says. “As a result, they understand the credit union business and our needs as they relate to our members. That’s very important to us – and eCU delivers on that expectation every time.”
“There continues to be a big demand for our programming and RepGen services,” says Alan Brunner, COO for eCU Technologies. “Credit unions really enjoy the fast implementation time so they can deliver the technology products and services that their members need in a timely manner. We are happy to help in that type of delivery. In addition, we’re happy to provide them with the system knowledge to empower their IT staff so they can make any adjustments they feel necessary at their convenience instead of relying on us or anybody else.”
