- Philadelphia Federal, School Employees and Melrose Credit Unions are the latest to utilize eCU's Efficiency Studies.-
Harrisburg, PA - July 31, 2007 -eCU Technologies, an automated financial service technology provider for credit unions, has signed three credit unions to employ the technology CUSO’s Episys™ Efficiency Studies service. The credit unions include Philadelphia Federal Credit Union ($524 million; 97,512 members; Philadelphia, Pa.), School Employees Credit Union of Washington ($572 million; 74,595 members; Seattle, Wash.), and Melrose Credit Union ($859 million; 19,231 members; Briarwood, NY). As a result, these credit unions will leverage eCU Technologies’ Episys experience to enhance their usage of the top-rated core processing system.
Whether credit unions are new to Episys or have been running the system for more than 10 or 15 years, eCU Technologies’ provides technology experts to conduct extensive reviews of how they are utilizing the system. This service has been created to help credit unions achieve maximum capacity of the Episys system, so they can continue to enhance their in-house operations with new efficiencies — improving their member services. Some of the study’s projects reviewed include: OFAC reporting, loan re-works, CD rate issues, EFT setup, stop payments, etc.
According to Melrose Credit Union’s IS Supervisor, Sammy De Jesus, his credit union wanted a third party to review and analyze how it used Symitar’s Episys system. Since converting to Episys in 2001, De Jesus felt that his credit union was not using Symitar to its full potential. In May 2007, he employed eCU Technologies to conduct an Episys Efficiency Study to determine where the credit union could enhance the usage of its top-rated core processing system.
For five days onsite, Debbie Hagman, eCU Technologies’ Efficiency Studies Consultant, met with every department within Melrose to review their daily, monthly, and quarterly processes. The credit union’s staffers also explained to Hagman their current challenges with the Episys system.
Suggestions from Hagman’s study included limiting user rights and using groups, streamlining the loan process, making better use of the collection package, and batch prompt changes.
“Our goal was to have a better understanding of Symitar functionality,” De Jesus explains. “We now feel that we do have a better understanding of this system, as our new capabilities will help us focus our resources better. As a result, our credit union will be able to help our members much easier having learned new efficiencies in Episys.”
“We’re pleased to see our Episys Efficiency Studies service start to take off,” states Alan Brunner, COO for eCU Technologies. “There are so many credit unions out there that have been on the Symitar system for quite a while or even ones that are brand new to it that need this type of instruction to maximize their usage of the system. We’re happy to provide such a unique service to our clients so they can know that they are serving their members to the fullest of their abilities.”
